What is Botox?

Botox is a drug doctors have been using for years to treat wrinkles and facial creases. Botox is a brand name of a toxin made by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. There are other brands, such as Dysport and Xeomin. Botox is the term you hear most often because it was the first injectable botulinum toxin.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can’t contract. That makes wrinkles relax and soften.

What aftercare of Botox injections is needed?

We advise that you lay on your back for the first 2-3 night’s sleep to avoid any pressure on the treated area.
Avoid touching and applying creams or make-up for 6 hours after the treatment to prevent infection.
Avoid exercise for 4-6 hours post-treatment.
Avoid excessive sun exposure.
Wear an SPF 35+ daily.

How long do the results last?

Botulinum toxin is carefully injected into the desired locations with minimal discomfort.
The procedures often last no longer than twenty minutes.
Optimal results are normally visible 10-14 days after treatment and are expected to last up to 4 months. Optimal results are normally visible 10-14 days after treatment and are expected to last up to 4 months.
